False Creek is a very smalle inlet found in the center of Vancouver. It separates downtown and False Creektown from the rest of the city. It was named by George Henry Richards during his Hydrographic survey of 1856-63. On False Creek’s eastern part is Science World, and the western side is overlaid with the Burrard Street Bridge. False Creek is also spanned by the Granville Street and Cambie Street bridges.
False Creek is the location of origin for Vancouver’s large sporting arenas, such as BC Place (home to the BC Lions) and GM Place, which is home to the Vancouver Canucks. False Creek is even home to the Molson Indy Vancouver Champ Car races. Though, this experience was broken off after the 2004 event because the series had arranged a racing season to take place in Edmonton during 2005.
